SELF CARE FOR FIRE SEASON

As we enter late summer and smoke hangs over much of northern California, here are some tips to keep in mind.

  • try to get fresh air and movement outdoors when you can- often early morning is clearer, watch the air quality apps and go outside when it’s green or yellow

  • eat juicy, moistening foods:  cucumbers, tomatoes, melons, avocados.  have sugar, alcohol, and processed foods in smaller amounts or not at all.

  • care for your skin by dry brushing before bathing and moisturizing with oils and salves afterward

  • herbal teas and tinctures can soothe irritated throats and alleviate coughing and wheezing. I have some custom blends for sale at my clinic, inquire directly to purchase.
